Customized Puzzles

Contact me for other variations on the puzzles at this web site. Quick Logic Puzzles can be personalized or tailored to specific needs. For example, letters can be used instead of numbers (see below). Also, the puzzles can be made easier by designing a series of guesses with more hits and/or misplaced among the clues -- and vice versa for harder puzzles.

Variations on a theme are possible: I can increase the level of difficulty by creating puzzles with more elements in the code and by widening the range of possible code elements. (The reverse also holds for easier puzzles). For instance, 5R7 and 5R8 puzzles can be crafted with 5 elements in a hidden code composed of 7 or 8 possible numbers. This intensifies the mental efforts needed to solve the puzzles. What a work-out for the mind!

Opportunities for Newspapers and Periodicals
Quick Logic Puzzles are available for use in print and electronic media on a one-shot or syndication basis. As syndicated content the Puzzles offer your audience an intriguing challenge and your organization a powerful attraction.

Quick Logic Puzzles differ from the usual types of crossword puzzles, acrostics, cryptograms, and logic puzzles: they are designed to be both mentally stimulating and relatively quick to solve. Take a look at the Portfolio Page for several samples of the puzzle.

In order to distinguish the commercial puzzles from the free, private samples accessible on this web site, letters are used rather than numbers. Also, the commercial version has seven possible elements in the hidden code, rather than six. The deductive process, of course, remains the same.

Being faster to solve than more traditional puzzles does not mean that Quick Logic Puzzles are necessarily easier. On the contrary, finding the secret code requires us to deduce possible patterns from clues and then to decide which patterns are either uniquely correct or else fall within a range of possible solutions. The clues provided may shorten the process, but the puzzles still require us to reason through the information presented.

Because many of the puzzles ask for several of the possible solutions, our minds are pushed to find the potential variations of the hidden code. Such a challenge can please even the most devoted fans of crossword puzzles or cryptograms.
